The fleet

Our boats for charter in Marseille

Our fleet includes five monohulls, seven catamarans, one trimaran and three classic sailboats. Each boat page details the number of cabins and berths, the equipment and photos of the boat. Capacities for stays with nights on board are lower than capacities for day trips.

Very soon, new boats will join the site: sailboats, catamarans and yachts entrusted to us under charter management, as well as boats offered directly by their owners. Our IA Orana catamaran, an Elba 45, is already available with a skipper.

Options

Charter with or without a skipper

Bareboat charter

You are the skipper: you sail independently, after the check-in and handover of the boat. Sailing CV and appropriate licence required.

Skippered charter

A professional skipper takes care of sailing and manoeuvres. You enjoy the cruise, the anchorages and swimming.

Mixed option

A skipper on board on the first day for the handover, then you sail on your own. Ideal if you have not sailed for a long time.

What is included

  • Boat ready to sail
  • Safety equipment
  • Check-in and inventory
  • Boat handover
  • Paddleboard depending on the boat
  • Private parking at the port

Fuel, provisioning and berths at stopovers are at your expense. A deposit is required for bareboat charters: it is made as a card pre-authorisation on our secure deposit area. Before setting off alone, a sailing practice day with a skipper is an excellent refresher.

Choosing well

Sailboat or catamaran: which boat to charter?

The monohull sailboat, for the pleasure of sailing

A monohull points higher into the wind, heels and gives more feel at the helm: it is the boat for sailing enthusiasts who like to trim and drive their boat. It is also cheaper to charter and in ports, where berths for catamarans are scarcer and more expensive.

The catamaran, for space and stability

A catamaran hardly heels at all, offers a large saloon on one level, separate cabins in each hull and trampolines to relax on. It is the ideal choice for a family with children, a group of friends or passengers prone to seasickness, and for shallow anchorages.

The trimaran and the classic sailboats

Our Neel 51 trimaran combines speed and living space. Our classic sailboats, Andale, Belle Aventure and Saint Amour, offer a unique experience, with a skipper, for a timeless stay on board exceptional boats.

And the size of the boat?

Allow one cabin per couple or family, and keep some room: a boat slightly larger than necessary makes the cruise much more pleasant, especially in rain or wind. For four people, a 38 to 42-foot sailboat is enough; for eight, choose a 45-footer or a catamaran.

Not sure? Tell us the number of people, your experience and your plans: we will advise you on the most suitable boat.

Routes

Cruising routes from Marseille

A weekend: the Côte Bleue and the Frioul

From Port Corbières, the calanques of the Côte Bleue are just a few miles away: Niolon, Méjean, La Redonne. The next day, head for the Frioul islands for a night at anchor at Pomègues or in port, facing Marseille lit up.

A week: the calanques, Cassis and the Golden Isles

After the calanques of Marseille and the port of Cassis, the cruise heads for La Ciotat and the Embiez, then Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant. A week lets you return at a relaxed pace, enjoying the most beautiful anchorages in Provence. In the calanques, follow the regulations of the Calanques National Park: speed limited, music forbidden, some calanques closed to motorboats.

Two weeks: Corsica, Sardinia or the Balearics

With an experienced crew, Corsica is about thirty hours at sea, the Balearics a little more. To avoid long crossings, we can deliver the boat: you board directly in Ajaccio, Calvi, Palma or Mahón and enjoy your whole week there.

Before each leg, check the marine weather on Météo-France: the mistral can rise quickly in the Gulf of Lion.

FAQ

Sailboat charter in Marseille: your questions

How much does it cost to charter a sailboat in Marseille?

Off season, sailboat charters start at €280 per day for the Dufour 375, €379 for the Oceanis 473 and €500 for the Cyclades 43.4. The Lagoon 400 and Lipari 41 catamarans start at €990 per day, and the Dufour 530 from €3,900 to €7,800 per week depending on the period. The full price list by season is on each boat’s page, with prices decreasing with the length of the charter.

Can we charter a boat without a skipper?

Yes, as a bareboat charter, if you have sailing experience and the appropriate licence for the boat. We ask for a sailing CV. Otherwise, a professional skipper can accompany you for all or part of your stay.

How much does a skipper cost for a charter?

A professional skipper is available as an option, at €350 per day, and a host at €200 per day on catamarans. The skipper takes care of sailing, manoeuvres and choosing anchorages, and shares his knowledge of the coast with you.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, a deposit is required for any bareboat charter before boarding: €4,000 for our monohulls and 6 000 € for the Lagoon 400 and Lipari 41 catamarans. It covers minor damage; more significant damage is covered by the boat’s insurance. A damage waiver is available as an option.

What does the charter include?

The boat ready to sail, with its safety equipment, the check-in and inventory at boarding and disembarkation, and the handover of the boat. Fuel, provisioning and berths at stopovers are at your expense.

How long can we charter for?

A week is the most common option, but we also offer weekends and short stays, as well as charters of several weeks with an automatic discount depending on the duration.

Can we go to Corsica or the Balearics?

Yes, with an experienced crew and preferably a two-week charter, as the crossing takes more than thirty hours. To save time, we can deliver the boat on the outward or return leg: you board directly in Corsica or the Balearics.

How many people can sleep on board?

It depends on the boat: a 40 to 47-foot sailboat generally sleeps 6 to 8 people, a catamaran under 42 feet 7 to 9 people including the skipper, and a catamaran of 42 feet and over 9 to 11 people with four double cabins. The number of berths is shown on each boat’s page.

Where does the charter start?

From Port Corbières, in L’Estaque, north of Marseille, with private and secure parking for your car during your stay. Departure from another port is possible depending on the boat.

I am an owner, can I charter out my boat on LOCVOILIER?

Yes. Owners can list their boat for charter on our site, or entrust us with its full management. Discover our charter management: we take care of the charterers, check-ins and routine maintenance.

Do I need a licence to charter a sailboat?

For a bareboat charter, we ask for a sailing CV and, depending on the boat and its engine, the appropriate pleasure craft licence. With no licence or experience, choose a skippered charter: you enjoy the cruise with complete peace of mind.

When should we book our charter?

As early as possible for July and August, often from the winter. May, June and September offer pleasant weather, fewer people at the anchorages and lower prices.

Can we charter a boat for just one day?

For one day, we offer our private boat trips with a skipper, from €790 on a sailboat and €1,490 on a catamaran, from 10am to 5pm.

What happens in bad weather?

You remain in charge of your programme, but safety comes first: if the mistral is strong, we advise you to stay in port or choose a sheltered anchorage. Check the marine weather every day before setting sail.
