The Marseille to Balearics delivery is charged per nautical mile covered, professional skipper included: €4 per mile. Same rate in the other direction, from the Balearics to Marseille. You know the price before you even call us.

Between Marseille and the Balearics there is no stopover: the crossing is made in one go, day and night, over 221 to 322 route miles depending on the island. It is genuine offshore sailing, which requires careful preparation.
The Gulf of Lion is one of the windiest areas of the Mediterranean. The mistral, coming down the Rhône valley, and the tramontane, from the Pyrenees, can raise a short, steep sea within a few hours. The skipper leaves in a settled window, using Météo-France marine bulletins, and does not hesitate to wait an extra day rather than force it.
The route crosses the ferry traffic between the mainland and the islands. Night watches are kept with AIS, radar if the boat has one and a constant visual lookout. You follow the boat’s position live, and the skipper sends you an update at departure, during the crossing and on arrival.
April, May and June to take the boat to the Balearics before summer; September and October to bring it back to Marseille for winter storage or antifouling. Summer is still possible, with often calmer conditions but berths harder to find.
A fast motorboat crosses in a day, but its fuel range becomes the first criterion. The skipper calculates consumption at cruising speed, plans a reserve of at least 20% and, if necessary, a route along the Catalan coast with refuelling in Barcelona or Palamós before crossing to Mallorca or Menorca. The simulator adapts the duration to your boat’s speed.
Mahón, one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, is the closest arrival from Marseille: 221 route miles. Ciutadella, in the west of the island, is an alternative for medium-sized boats.
Palma concentrates boatyards, sail lofts and marinas: ideal for winter storage or works. Alcúdia, in the north, shortens the crossing; Port d’Andratx is attractive in the west of the island.
Ibiza is the furthest arrival from Marseille, 322 route miles. Formentera, close by, can be reached straight after for a handover at anchor or in La Savina.
In the Balearics, anchoring on Posidonia meadows is prohibited and checked: for an arrival at anchor, the skipper chooses a sandy bottom or an authorised buoy. In season, marinas are often full: we help you book the arrival berth before departure. Information on the archipelago’s ports is published by Ports de les Illes Balears.
Repositioning your boat to its winter port in autumn, or returning to the Balearics in spring, with complete peace of mind.

Every spring and every autumn, many owners shuttle between the mainland and the islands. Delivery lets you enjoy the boat in the Balearics in season, then bring it back for the winter where maintenance is most convenient.
White sand coves, crystal-clear water, sheltered anchorages: the Balearics are one of the most beautiful cruising areas in the Mediterranean. Having the boat delivered in May lets you fly in and set off cruising from day one, without crossing the Gulf of Lion.
Wintering in Marseille brings the boat closer to home for maintenance, antifouling or charter management during the off-season. Wintering in Palma gives access to Mallorca’s many boatyards. We deliver in both directions and advise you according to your plans.
Brought back to Marseille, your boat can work in spring and autumn thanks to our charter management, then return to the Balearics for the summer. The delivery then fits into a complete calendar that we organise for you.

The distances on this page follow a safe route calculated on the real relief of the seabed, not a straight line. For the Marseille to Balearics delivery, the route leaves the Marseille harbour, heads south-west across the Gulf of Lion and reaches Menorca, Mallorca or Ibiza over deep water. The data comes from SHOM bathymetric models on the French coast, EMODnet on the Spanish coasts and GEBCO offshore.
In practice, the Gulf of Lion is crossed far from any coast, and these rules mainly come into play on arrival: the entrance to Mahón harbour, the bay of Palma or the channel between Ibiza and Formentera. Mahón is the closest arrival, at 220.7 route miles. Alcúdia, in the north of Mallorca, is at 239.7 miles; Palma, at the head of its bay, at 291.4 miles; Ibiza, the furthest, at 322.5 miles.
We add 2% to the route distance for leaving port, the approach and berthing. For Mahón: 220.7 miles + 2% = 225 miles charged, i.e. €900 at €4 per mile, skipper included. For Palma: 297 miles charged, i.e. €1,188. For Ibiza: 329 miles charged, i.e. €1,316. Our port-to-port distance calculator shows the same figures for all Spanish ports, from Barcelona to Ibiza.
The time at sea shown adds a 15% weather margin: about 42 hours to Mahón and 56 hours to Palma, for a sailboat at 6 knots. This margin is used to organise watches and provisioning; it is never added to the price. The Gulf of Lion gets up quickly in a mistral or tramontane: the skipper chooses a stable weather window, navigates on official charts and may postpone departure if safety requires it.
The crossing changes little from Sète or Toulon: 214.2 miles from Sète to Mahón, 211.8 miles from Toulon to Mahón. From Barcelona, it is much shorter: 138.8 miles to Mahón and 134.8 miles to Palma. The simulator recalculates the route distance, the miles charged and the price for each of these departures.
The Marseille to Balearics delivery is charged at €4 per mile, Capitaine 200 professional skipper included, on the route distance plus 2% for approaches and harbour manoeuvres: €900 for Mahón (221 miles), €1,188 for Palma de Mallorca (291 miles) and €1,316 for Ibiza (322 miles). Options and actual costs are added according to your choices, detailed in the simulator.
For a sailboat at 6 knots, allow about 37 hours at sea to Mahón, 48 hours to Palma and 54 hours to Ibiza, not counting the weather margin. The simulator adds a 15% margin, i.e. 43, 55 and 62 hours.
