The price of a boat delivery is calculated per mile covered: €4 per mile, professional skipper included. The miles charged correspond to the route distance, measured on our port-to-port distance calculator, plus 2% for approaches and harbour manoeuvres. Here are some frequent routes from or to Marseille.
| Route | Route distance | Miles charged | Prices include taxes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marseille → Saint-Tropez | 89.6 miles | 91 miles | 364€ |
| Marseille → Monaco | 125.0 miles | 128 miles | 512€ |
| Marseille → Barcelona | 185.4 miles | 189 miles | 756€ |
| Marseille → Ajaccio | 186.4 miles | 190 miles | 760€ |
| Marseille → Genoa | 199.3 miles | 203 miles | 812€ |
| Marseille → Mahón | 220.7 miles | 225 miles | 900€ |
| Marseille → Palma de Mallorca | 291.4 miles | 297 miles | 1,188€ |
| Marseille → Las Palmas | 1,392.9 miles | 1,421 miles | 5,684€ |
| La Rochelle → Marseille | 1,676.1 miles | 1,710 miles | 6,840€ |
These prices include the delivery and the skipper. Options (second crew member, meals, preparation day) and actual costs (fuel, ports, skipper’s travel) are added according to your choices: the simulator details them line by line, and we are open to discussion for a new boat, a seasonal round trip or several boats.
The price of a boat delivery depends first on one figure: the distance. We do not take it as the crow flies. Each route follows a safe route calculated on the real relief of the seabed, using SHOM bathymetric models for the French coasts and Corsica, EMODnet for the rest of Europe and GEBCO offshore. The Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast are divided into cells of about 550 metres, and each cell keeps the shallowest depth measured: a single rock head is enough to close a passage.
On this grid, an algorithm finds the shortest path that respects all these rules, then smooths it and measures it to a tenth of a mile on the Earth’s sphere. The 8,001 combinations between our 127 ports were calculated in this way; you will find them on our port-to-port distance calculator, with the route animated on the map.
A quay-to-quay route does not count everything: leaving port, getting under way, waiting for a bridge or a lock, approaching and berthing on arrival. We therefore add 2% to the route distance, and it is this total, rounded to the mile, that is charged at €4 per mile, with a minimum of €350. From Port Corbières to Ajaccio, for example: 186.4 route miles + 2% = 190 miles charged, i.e. €760. To Saint-Tropez, 89.6 route miles give 91 miles charged, i.e. €364; to Palma, 291.4 miles give €1,188.
The duration shown by the simulator adds 15% to the time at sea to allow for headwinds, rough seas and manoeuvres: this is standard practice among professional skippers. This margin is used to plan meals, the second crew member and your dates, but it does not change the price of the delivery, which is calculated on the miles charged. Distances remain planning estimates: on the day of departure, the skipper navigates on up-to-date official charts and adapts the route to the weather.
To move a boat from one port to another, there are two solutions: delivery by sea, with a skipper on board, or road transport on a trailer or boat carrier. The right choice depends on the size of the boat, the distance and your schedule.
The boat reaches its destination under its own power. It is the most economical solution for a cruising sailboat or catamaran: no unstepping the mast, no crane at either end, no oversized load convoy. The passage also serves as a sea trial: the skipper tests the boat and gives you a report on its behaviour and equipment.
It suits small craft, light motorboats or sailboats with a lifting keel that fit within road dimensions. Beyond 2.55 metres in beam, it becomes an oversized load, with permits and delays, plus unstepping, craning and restepping the mast.
For a cruising boat over eight to ten metres, boat delivery by sea is almost always the simplest solution. We help you compare if your boat is borderline.
The skipper holds the Capitaine 200 and is covered by professional liability insurance. We send these documents to your insurer.
Departure takes place in a carefully chosen weather window, based on Météo-France marine bulletins and forecast models.
You follow the boat’s position live and receive regular updates with photos throughout the passage.
On arrival, a full report: engine hours, consumption, technical observations and points to address.
Before each departure, the boat is checked: safety equipment, engine, rigging, power, bilge pumps and navigation lights. Forecasts are followed on Météo-France marine and charts are kept up to date with SHOM notices to mariners. The skipper may postpone departure if safety requires it: a successful delivery is above all an uneventful one.
Provide the boat’s registration document, an insurance certificate covering navigation with a professional skipper in the planned area, and the list of safety equipment. A 50% deposit by bank transfer secures the skipper’s date; the balance and actual costs are invoiced on arrival, on receipts.
Delivery is charged at €4 per nautical mile, professional skipper included, with a minimum of €350. The miles charged correspond to the route distance plus 2% for approaches and harbour manoeuvres. Depending on options, a second crew member (€250 per day), crew meals (€30 per day per person) and, at cost on receipts, fuel, harbour fees and the skipper’s travel are added. The calculator on this page gives you your price in 30 seconds.
The professional skipper is included in the rate of €4 per mile. Depending on options, the second crew member, crew meals and, at cost on receipts, fuel, harbour fees and the skipper’s travel are added.
Allow about 168 to 244 miles depending on the arrival port, i.e. 32 to 47 hours at sea for a sailboat at 6 knots, including a 15% weather margin, sailing day and night. The calculator estimates the duration according to your boat’s cruising speed.
A professional skipper holding the Capitaine 200, covered by professional liability insurance. For night crossings, we recommend a second crew member on board.
A deposit of 50% of the estimated price is requested when ordering, by bank transfer, free of charge. The balance and actual costs are invoiced on arrival, on receipts.
The skipper chooses the weather window and may postpone departure if safety requires it. Waiting days are charged at the daily rate set out in the quote.
The boat’s registration documents and an insurance certificate covering the delivery with a professional skipper. The boat must be seaworthy, with its safety equipment up to date.
Yes. You receive a live tracking link, via satellite beacon or AIS depending on the boat’s equipment, and the skipper sends you an update every day. For permanent tracking, discover our boat tracking.
Yes, monohull sailboats, catamarans and motorboats, from 5 to 30 metres. The cruising speed suggested by the calculator adapts to the type of boat: 6 knots for a sailboat, 7 for a catamaran, 12 for a motorboat.
A boat delivery means moving a sailboat, catamaran or motorboat from one port to another by sea, with a professional skipper on board, without the owner. It is the solution for delivery after purchase, winter storage, seasonal repositioning or preparing for a transatlantic crossing.
No. The price per mile includes the skipper alone. For night crossings, such as Marseille – Corsica or Marseille – Balearics, we recommend a second crew member for watches, offered as an option at €250 per day.
Yes: San Remo, Genoa, Liguria, Tuscany, the coast of Rome and Naples, Sicily, Sardinia or the Maddalena archipelago. For example, Marseille – Genoa is 199.3 route miles, i.e. €812, and Marseille – Olbia 261.0 miles, i.e. €1,064, skipper included.
It all depends on the distance and the speed of the boat: about 17 hours at sea for Marseille – Saint-Tropez, around thirty hours for Corsica, two days for the Balearics and two weeks for La Rochelle – Marseille via Gibraltar. The simulator calculates the duration with a 15% weather margin.
Ideally two to three weeks before the desired date, more in spring and autumn, the busiest periods. For an emergency, contact us directly: we always look for a solution.
Ideally yes: provisioned, checked and equipped. Otherwise, we prepare the boat before departure (preparation day at €350), with a full safety checklist.
